||Dominance of the Clergy|
The Clergy have grown so powerful they assumed de facto control over our country.
Dominance of the Clergy is a disaster that may occur in countries with a powerful clergy estate.
The country has a Clergy estate which has at least 60 influence.
If these prerequisites are met, the monthly progress can begin.
| Monthly progress increases if
|| Monthly progress decreases if
- does not have an ongoing disaster.
- has a Clergy estate with at least 80 influence.
| The country:
- has a Clergy estate with less than 80 influence.
| The country has a Clergy estate which influence:
|| • is at least 80 but less than 85.
|| • is at least 85 but less than 90.
|| • is at least 90 but less than 95.
|| • is at least 95 but less than 100.
|| • is at least 100.
If the progress reaches 100%, the disaster will start with the following event:
$MONARCH$ has allowed the $ESTATE_CHURCH$ of $COUNTRY$ to grow too powerful and now they have made their move. While keeping the common people in line through their ties with the divine the $ESTATE_CHURCH$ have used every one of the many means available to them to seize the reins of government. While still ruler in name our $MONARCHTITLE$ is now little more than their puppet.
The $ESTATE_CHURCH$ Seize Power
||Is triggered only by
the start of the ‘Dominance of the Clergy’ disaster.
We should have seen this coming...
- loses 1 stability.
[Root.GetName] will now be controlled by the Clergy until the 'Curtail the Clergy' decision is taken.
While the disaster is ongoing the country gets:
- +20% technology cost
- +20% idea cost
- −2 tolerance of heretics
- −2 tolerance of heathens
The disaster can only be ended by the following decision.
Our state church wields a great deal of influence over the secular matters of the state. To limit their influence on state matters we will need to curtail their power and privileges.
Curtail the Clergy
Then the country loses the above-mentioned effects and the following event is triggered:
Using a wide range of measures the $MONARCHTITLE$ has managed to strip the $ESTATE_CHURCH$ of the many offices they held and the properties under their control. The authority over the worldly realm lies once again in the hands of $MONARCH$.
The $ESTATE_CHURCH$ Curtailed
||Is triggered only by
the end of the ‘Dominance of the Clergy’ disaster.
The $MONARCHTITLE$ is back in control.
